I've loved baking for as long as I can remember. This is how a hobby in mom's kitchen turned into a micro bakery — told by Emily, founder & baker.

// How it started

From Hobby to Bakery.

Chapter 01

A hobby that started in mom's kitchen.

Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent in the kitchen with my mom, helping her bake for holidays, birthdays, and family celebrations.

Long before The Big Bite Bakery existed, baking was already a big part of my life.

Chapter 02

Cookies for a world stuck at home.

During COVID, when the world felt stuck at home, I started baking cookies to brighten the days of my friends and family.

With plenty of encouragement from my brothers, what began as a simple hobby eventually grew into my own micro bakery.

Chapter 03

Hot and Heavy Cookies. (Yes, really.)

Back then, I thought I had come up with the perfect name for it.

The first official name of the business was Hot and Heavy Cookies, and it stuck around for almost a full year.

Chapter 04

Testing, tasting, starting over.

The first versions weren't quite where I wanted them to be. I spent countless hours testing custom recipes, making adjustments, and learning along the way.

Eventually, I created a cookie recipe I was truly proud of — and gave my micro bakery a fresh start.

And just like that, The Big Bite Bakery was born.

Chapter 05

The kitchen became my second home.

While working full time as a teacher, I spent my evenings and weekends baking, photographing new creations, and turning new ideas into flavors week after week.

Every batch taught me something new, and every new flavor inspired me to keep creating.

Chapter 06

The team behind the cookies.

As The Big Bite Bakery grew, so did the team behind it.

My amazing, supportive boyfriend Jano and my hilarious friend Louis were there through the early mornings, long market days, and everything in between.

Together, we sold a lot of cookies, made a lot of memories, and somehow created a collection of funny videos along the way.

Chapter 07

We're just getting started.

It's hard to believe how far The Big Bite Bakery has come. What started as a hobby has grown into something I could have only dreamed of.

As we approach three years of The Big Bite Bakery, I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported this journey.

The best part? I think we're just getting started.
